SPECIAL EARTH DAY EVENT – TARA PUJA
Monday, April 22 7 – 8:30pm $20 donation
The monks of Drepung Gomang Monastery will honor Arya Tara with special prayers for Mother Earth and World Peace. Tara is awakened awareness manifest in a female form. She is a beloved Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhist figure whose compassionate presence has been invoked since the late sixth century in India. Tara embodies innate wisdom and unconditional, boundless love as she continuously nurtures and protects sentient beings. As such, she is considered the mother of all buddhas.
Puja is a ritual performed to keep us in harmony with cosmic forces, thereby removing and overcoming the sorrows of life and bringing spiritual upliftment. By doing puja, thoughts and vibrations of spiritual forces are created around us. These spiritual forces work to eliminate the negative influences in our life and help surround us with positive energy which can bring us peace of mind and enable us to more clearly touch the Divine, our true nature.
Hear the monks’ unique trichord chanting and traditional Tibetan instruments during this ceremony.
Also, shop for unique Tibetan crafts, malas, singing bowls, jewelry and more. This is the last stop for the monks in our community on this tour!
